Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) & North American Free Trade
Agreement (NAFTA)
Qualified Workers
The Trade Adjustment Assistance Program is available to those who have
lost their jobs or who have had their hours and/or wages reduced as
a result of increase foreign imports.
Basic Eligibility Requirements
Determined by petition filed with the U.S. Department of Labor. Assistance
with this petition is available from the Colorado Department of Labor
TAA Center Unit. Eligible persons are notified by the Central Unit and
will receive a Certificate of Eligibility.
Program Services
Workers whose employment is adversely affected may apply for TAA. Workers
may be eligible for training, a job search allowance, a relocation allowance,
and other reemployment services. Additional weekly Trade Readjustment
Allowance (TRA) may be payable to eligible workers following the exhaustion
of unemployment benefits if an individual is enrolled in a TAA approved
training program with in the 16/8 week TRA rule.

Employment Services of Weld County Workforce Center or register with
the Employment Services of Weld County on-line here.
- You will need to register for unemployment by calling the toll free
number 1-800-388-5515 or on line www.coloradoworkforce.com.
- Once you have completed both the previous two steps, call Annette
Gutierrez at (970)353-3800 ext 3421 to schedule a TAA orientation.
