Governor's Summer Job Hunt Program

WHAT IS THE GOVERNOR'S SUMMER JOB HUNT?
The Governor's Summer Job Hunt is a vital link between classroom learning and actual on-the-job experience that matches young people's skills and interests with employment opportunities. Employment services are available, at no cost, to both employers and youth ages 16 - 21.
Young people who are interested in employment can go to any of the Summer Job Hunt offices located throughout the State. These offices are a place where young people can meet with an employment specialist, who will assist them with job search activities and referrals.
HAS IT BEEN SUCCESSFUL?
More than a quarter of a million young people have found summer employment since the program began in 1981. The program serves as a national model and has received two Presidential Awards, first in 1983 and 1993, and has been replicated in several cities across the United States.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Young people between the ages of 16 and 21 are eligible to participate in the Summer Job Hunt. Economic circumstances are not a consideration for program registrants. This is a free referral service to youth and employers. Other employment and educational opportunities may be available for qualified youth.
WHAT TYPES OF JOBS ARE LISTED?
Employers throughout Colorado provide a diverse selection of jobs including clerical, customer service, labor and sales. There are both full- and part-time jobs available for youth with wages ranging from $5.15 to more than $9.00 an hour.
WHEN CAN EMPLOYERS LIST JOBS?
You are invited to list job openings at any time with the Summer Job Hunt office. However, many young people are not available for full-time employment until school vacation begins. Job orders may be submitted via the internet @ www.eswc.org.
