Employer Training Incentives

As an employer, you can help individuals who have been dislocated from employment, other eligible job seekers, or welfare clients learn valuable job skills and be reimbursed for part of their wages and training.

On the Job Training Program

Designed to teach and/or improve the skills of the participant on the job for up to six months. After hiring the participant, the employer may be eligible for the following incentives during the specified contract period:

  • Fifty percent gross salary reimbursement and any additional training costs.
  • Additional classroom training, beyond the employer training.
  • Reimbursement for training costs.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program (TANF)

Employers play a crucial role in reducing the number of individuals who receive public assistance (welfare). Without employer involvement, recipients have no means to acquire critical job skills and become self-sufficient tax payers instead of tax users.

Work Supplementation Program

Private/public sector employment program with these employer responsibilities:

  • Provide a forty-hour work week which can be a combination of work and education.
  • Provide a minimum of three months of unsubsidized, continuous full-time employment with employer-provided wages and benefits, liability and worker's compensation (comparable to other employees doing comparable work).
  • Provide training in job-specific skills and mentoring in work ethics and employment retention skills.
Employer Incentives
  • Reimbursement of a monthly work supplementation fee of 50% of the participant's gross monthly salary.
  • A training allowance bonus on behalf of the participant.
  • Benefit from case management, support, and mentoring.

Private Sector Work Activity For TANF Participants

Designed to help the near-job-ready to enter the world of work, develop occupational skills and good work habits, and help the participant in obtaining permanent unsubsidized employment. As an employer, you can be paid up to $1,500 for job specific training and associated costs when hiring these individuals.

Federal Bonding Program

Created in 1966 by the U.S. Department of Labor, the Federal Bonding Program helps to alleviate employers concerns that at-risk job applicants would be untrustworthy workers by allowing them to purchase fidelity bonds to indemnify them for loss of money or property sustained through the dishonest acts of their employees.
