Training Incentives
As an employer,
you can help individuals who have been dislocated from employment, other
eligible job seekers, or welfare clients learn valuable job skills and
be reimbursed for part of their wages and training.
On
the Job Training Program
Designed to teach
and/or improve the skills of the participant on the job for up to
six months. After hiring the participant, the employer may
be eligible for the following incentives during the specified contract
period:
- Fifty percent
gross salary reimbursement and any additional training costs.
- Additional
classroom training, beyond the employer training.
- Reimbursement
for training costs.
Temporary
Assistance for Needy Families Program (TANF)
Employers play
a crucial role in reducing the number of individuals who receive public
assistance (welfare). Without employer involvement, recipients have
no means to acquire critical job skills and become self-sufficient
tax payers instead of tax users.
Work
Supplementation Program
Private/public
sector employment program with these employer responsibilities:
- Provide a
forty-hour work week which can be a combination of work and education.
- Provide a
minimum of three months of unsubsidized, continuous full-time employment
with employer-provided wages and benefits, liability and worker's
compensation (comparable to other employees doing comparable work).
- Provide training
in job-specific skills and mentoring in work ethics and employment
retention skills.
Employer
Incentives
- Reimbursement
of a monthly work supplementation fee of 50% of the participant's
gross monthly salary.
- A training
allowance bonus on behalf of the participant.
- Benefit from
case management, support, and mentoring.
Private
Sector Work Activity For TANF Participants
Designed to help
the near-job-ready to enter the world of work, develop occupational
skills and good work habits, and help the participant in obtaining
permanent unsubsidized employment. As
an employer, you can be paid up to $1,500 for job specific training
and associated costs when hiring these individuals.
Work
Opportunity Tax Credit
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a federal income tax credit
that encourages employers to hire seven targeted groups

Federal
Bonding Program
Created in 1966 by the U.S. Department of Labor, the Federal Bonding
Program helps to alleviate employers concerns that at-risk job applicants
would be untrustworthy workers by allowing them to purchase fidelity
bonds to indemnify them for loss of money or property sustained through
the dishonest acts of their employees.
